Pastor's Message

Pastor's Message

Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me – watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.

These words of Jesus, translated by Eugene Peterson in The Message, epitomize what we are all about here at First United Methodist Church. We seek to be a community of people who know God’s grace and love as that is given in Jesus Christ. We encourage each other in our spiritual journeys as we are learning to live in tune with the unforced rhythms of grace. Inspired by the Spirit of Jesus, and in his name, we seek to bring hope and healing to others from here on Duluth’s skyline. We continue to be comforted and challenged by the adventure of living the Christian faith.

We believe our faith is intended to make a difference in who we are and how we live. We are a church that welcomes all, and we take that very seriously. No matter who you are, there is a place in our church for you. If you are new to the community, we hope you check us out. If it has been years since you’ve been inside a church, we hope you take a chance on us. Come and see if this is not a place where you experience God’s love and a community of people trying to live out that love. If you are uncomfortable with just showing up on a Sunday morning, give us a call and let us know how we can help you get to know us better.
