Care Ministries
Prayer Shawl Ministry
Prayer shawls have been made for centuries to represent the unconditional love of God. They wrap, enfold, surround, and comfort the recipients as a tangible symbol of love and care.
The stitchers meet on the second Wednesday of each month at 9:30 am in the Fireside Lounge. Newcomers are always welcome. We have several simple knit and crochet patterns available. If you don’t knit or crochet but would like to participate in another way, donations of yarn are always welcome.
Completed shawls are available for anyone who might appreciate or need one. Recipients do not need to be FUMC members. If you would like to request a shawl for a friend or family member, please speak with Linda Wiig or Mary Anne Korsch.
Health Ministry
Health Ministries, lead by our Faith Community Nurse Linda Wiig. The purpose of serving in this capacity is to respond to the unique needs of the congregation blending nursing and faith. All Faith Community Nurse’s minister to individuals and families using health education, spiritual resources, and community resources to promote wellness of body, mind, and spirit; a holistic approach, as was the very nature of the early church to be a healing community.
Issues of health are basic to all people. We all struggle with illnesses, stress, injury, and loss. Most of us have the desire to function to the best of our abilities. In my roll I, with the assistance of Pastor Jeanine and Deacon Mary Anne Korsch provide comfort, prayer, support, encouragement, and offer resources which can be of help to those we minister.
Care Ministry
The care team offers care and ongoing visitation and response for those who desire prayer and connection through times of illness, aging, or struggles. These individuals and couples have been instrumental in helping to provide care and concern, support, and prayer, by phoning, visiting people in their homes, or in hospitals and care facilities. If you are interested in joining this team and want more information, give Linda a call or leave a message in the office and we will have a chat.
Prayer Chain
A group within our ministry team which offers prayers for individuals or families who have requested to receive prayers. Many people seek God’s healing and understanding love. To request a prayer, contact the church office, the Faith Community Nurse, the Pastor or Deacon.
Food Sharing
Bring your Food Shelf items and place them in the shopping cart in the narthex. We are a drop-off site and regularly bring food to the Food Shelf. All items must be non-perishable (cans of soup, vegetables, boxes of cereal, muffin mixes, etc.). This is an easy way to help our community members.
Time for Conversation and Fellowship
Offered via Zoom the second and fourth Tuesday of the month at 10:00 am, led by Pamela Brown. A need is being met by having meaningful, thoughtful discussions about different topics that arise. It lets people see others when many, at different times, are not able to make it to church to foster community.
